The Cargo Van Original Series liftgates are exterior bolt-on applications. For more information on which cargo van body models it will fit, see Cargo Van Series Specification. For other cargo vans and Sprinter vans, a Model 650 was designed to mount inside the body.

The Curb-side Fixed Control has a toggle style switch with a steel shield. To help prevent unauthorized use, the timer deactivates the control 90 seconds after last operation

Tommy Gate's Cargo Van Original Series liftgates are compatible with many frame-mounted receiver-style trailer hitches.

Original Series liftgates lift and lower by way of a full-size electric motor and hydraulic pump which in turn retract and extend the lift cables, raising and lowering the platform. Cargo Van Model 64P and Model 72P liftgates use military aircraft-specified lift cables.

The Original Series Model 64P is a bolt-on parallel arm design liftgate for Cargo Van bodies. On some van bodies, the back door configuration prevents this liftgate from mounting securely to the cargo van. In those instances, the Model 650 can be used.

For Sprinter applications that need a full-size platform, Tommy Gate offers the Model 72P. The Model 72P bolts to the body, outside of the rear doors. While not in use, the platform folds up against the van body.
